Mike Goodin visitó la oficina de LA PRENSA, para informar que la comunidad de Scheleswig está trabajando en un proyecto de construcción de una guardería para niños de todas las edades, y para hacer el proyecto una realidad que ayudará a los padres de familia no solo de Scheleswig, sino que también a las comunidades cercanas, necesitan el apoyo de toda la comunidad de Denison y del condado de Crawford en general.

Se estima que el costo total de la construcción de la guardería y los equipos necesarios para ponerla a funcionar es de $675,000 a $750,000.
Mike dijo que la guardería que llevará por nombre Under the Son Child Care estará ubicada en la antigua escuela de secundaria. “La fecha tentativa para iniciar la construcción será en esta primavera del 2021, si el clima lo permite.
El centro de cuidados de niños tendrá la capacidad de cuidar a 53 niños entre las edades de 6 semanas de nacidos a los 12 años de edad. “Ofreceremos la capacidad máxima de 8 niños entre las edades de 6 semanas a 24 meses. Y 45 niños entre las edades de 2 a 12 años,” dijo Mike.
Al preguntarle acerca del personal de cuidado que estará al cuidado de los niños, dijo “Los empleados serán altamente calificados en el cuidado y la seguridad de los niños. Ellos [los empleados] serán altamente calificados y obtendrán todas las credenciales que el estado demanda para trabajar en una guardería.”

Cabe mencionar que entre la mesa directiva que tomará las decisiones del centro se encuentran dos latinas, Ruth Hernández y María Cristina Velásquez.
“Personalmente estoy muy contenta por la construcción de la guardería, ya que en Schleswig carece de una. Y sé de muchas familias no solo latinas, que se han ido a vivir a otros pueblos, porque aquí no hay centros que cuiden niños. Claro, hay personas que lo hacen en sus casas, pero no es una guardería como tal, y las personas que cuidan niños en sus casas, ya son personas de avanzada edad,” expreso Ruth.
Tanto Goodin como Ruth, extienden la invitación a todos los habitantes del condado de Crawford para que apoyen el proyecto que ayudará a decenas de familias a tener un lugar seguro y educativo para sus hijos.

Sure, there are people who do it at home, but it is not a daycare as such, and the people who care for children at home are already elderly, ”said Ruth.
