La iglesia St. Rose of Lima de Denison lanzó una campaña de colectar $2 millones de dólares para la renovación del altar mayor, vidrieras, pila bautismal, estatuas de santos, mejor iluminación, murales, entre otras mejoras, dijo el párroco de la iglesia Michael Cronin por medio de un comunicado de prensa enviado a este medio, donde informó que la campaña lleva el lema Witness His Glory, (se testigo de su gloria, por su traducción al español).
El comunicado informa que algunas de las obras de arte que se utilizaran en el proyecto son nuevas, y otras serán reutilizadas.
En las misas del 14 y 15 del presente mes, los feligreses tuvieron la oportunidad de ver presentaciones artísticas del proyecto, al igual que opinaron sobre el mismo, al igual que el padre Michael anunció que el proyecto cuenta con $495, 000 de una promesa ofrecida.
El padre señaló que la campaña Witness His Glory tiene un período de compromiso de tres años, y que el trabajo se completará entre el verano y el otoño de año 2025.
El padre dijo que el sistema de iluminación obsoleto fue el impulso para que él y el consejo de las finanzas de la iglesia consideraran mejorar el espacio del Culto Mayor de la iglesia, ya que cuando se en el 2006 se construyó la iglesia actual, los feligreses tenían la intención de agregar vidrieras cuando hubiera fondos disponibles. Según el comunicado, cuando los líderes de la parroquia decidieron abordar colectivamente las necesidades del espacio del culto con una campaña, fue una oportunidad para mejorar aún más el santuario, por lo que la iglesia contrató a Conrad Schmitt Studios de New Berlin, Wisconsin, para el diseño del proyecto y Tim Stuart que es un feligrés de la iglesia, fue nombrado presidente de la campaña.
A la parroquia St. Rose of Lima también pertenecen los feligreses de las comunidades de Buck Grove, Charter Oak, Dow City, Manilla, Manning, Ute y Vail, y las mejoras del proyecto serán un reconocimiento a cada comunidad y su iglesia.
“Incorporaremos una estatua del Santo patrono de cada iglesia a la que servimos,” señaló el padre Michael.
Las estatuas de María y José de la iglesia original de Santa Rosa volverán a ambos lados del altar, en reconocimiento a Santa María patrono de Ute y Dow City y a San José de Buck Grove. De igual manera se traerá la estatua original de St. Rose al edificio. Se agregarán nuevas estatuas del Sagrado Corazón, San Bonifacio y Santa Ana.
Según el comunicado, un donante anónimo financió una réplica exacta de La Piedad, de Miguel Ángel que se colocará en el atrio de la iglesia como parte de la campaña Witness His Glory.

St. Rose of Lima Church in Denison has launched a $2 million dollar fundraising campaign to renovate the main altar, stained glass windows, baptismal font, statues of saints, better lighting, murals, and other improvements, said the church's pastor, Michael Cronin, in a press release sent to this media outlet, where he reported that the campaign has the motto Witness His Glory.
The release reports that some of the artwork that will be used in the project is new, and others will be reused.
At the masses on the 14th and 15th of this month, parishioners had the opportunity to see artistic presentations of the project, as well as give their opinions on it, and Father Michael announced that the project has $495,000 from a pledge.
The father noted that the Witness His Glory campaign has a three-year commitment period, with the work to be completed between the summer and fall of 2025.
The father said the outdated lighting system was the impetus for him and the church finance council to consider upgrading the church's High Worship space, as when the current church was built in 2006, parishioners intended to add stained glass when funding became available. Stained glass will reduce the natural light available in the sanctuary, increasing the need for an updated lighting system.
Additionally, the church's baptismal font was damaged and cannot be repaired but must be replaced, resulting in the need to replace the flooring in the baptismal area. According to the release, when parish leaders decided to collectively address the needs of the worship space with a campaign, it was an opportunity to further improve the sanctuary, so the church hired Conrad Schmitt Studios of New Berlin, Wisconsin, to design the project and Tim Stuart, a parishioner of the church, was named campaign chair.
St. Rose of Lima Parish also includes parishioners from the communities of Buck Grove, Charter Oak, Dow City, Manilla, Manning, Ute and Vail, and the project improvements will be a recognition of each community and its church.
“We will incorporate a statue of the patron saint of each church we serve,” Father Michael said.
Statues of Mary and Joseph from the original St. Rose Church will return to either side of the altar, in recognition of St. Mary, the patron saint of Ute and Dow City, and St. Joseph of Buck Grove. The original statue of St. Rose will also be brought into the building. New statues of the Sacred Heart, St. Boniface and St. Anne will be added.
According to the release, an anonymous donor funded an exact replica of Michelangelo's Pietà that will be placed in the church's atrium as part of the Witness His Glory campaign.
