El domingo 13 de noviembre, aproximadamente a las 2:00 a. m., el Departamento de Policía de Storm Lake asistió a un llamado de una pelea en progreso en la dirección 138 Mae Street, Storm Lake. Al llegar, la policía escuchó gritos provenientes de la parte trasera de la residencia, momento en el que observaron a un sujeto masculino cubierto de sangre. El sujeto masculino, identificado como Harley Bucheli de 23 años de Storm Lake, fue abordado por los oficiales en la escena. La policía alega que Bucheli luego escupió a un oficial de policía. Bucheli fue detenido y transportado al Centro Médico Regional de Buena Vista para recibir tratamiento por las aparentes lesiones sufridas durante la pelea.

Los oficiales alegan además que Sheffield mostró signos de intoxicación por alcohol. Sheffield fue detenido y transportado a la cárcel del condado de Buena Vista para su registro. La policía alega que durante el proceso detención, Sheffield amenazó con matar a un oficial de policía.

El viernes 11 de noviembre de 2022, aproximadamente a las 12:00 p. m., el Departamento de Policía de Storm Lake fue llamado a la Universidad de Buena Vista en Storm Lake por un informe tardío de actividad sospechosa. Al llegar, se informó a la policía que dos estudiantes observaron a un sujeto masculino en un vehículo el lunes 7 de noviembre y nuevamente el viernes 11 de noviembre y que el hombre supuestamente se estaba masturbando en el vehículo a la vista del público. Los testigos proporcionaron a la policía una descripción del hombre y la matrícula del vehículo.
Luego de una mayor investigación, el sábado 12 de noviembre, la policía se puso en contacto con el propietario del vehículo sospechoso en 221 Seneca Street en Storm Lake, quien fue identificado como Romel Ona Gómez, de 47 años de Storm Lake. Gómez fue detenido y transportado a la cárcel del condado de Buena Vista, donde fue acusado de lo siguiente: Dos cargos de exposición indecente, un delito menor grave
Gómez fue ingresado en la Cárcel del Condado de Buena Vista, con una fianza de $4,000.

On Sunday, November 13, at approximately 2:00 a.m. m., the Storm Lake Police Department responded to a call of a fight in progress at the address 138 Mae Street, Storm Lake. Upon arrival, police heard screaming coming from the rear of the residence, at which point they observed a male subject covered in blood. The male subject, identified as 23-year-old Harley Bucheli of Storm Lake, was approached by officers on scene. Police allege that Bucheli then spat at a police officer. Bucheli was taken into custody and transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment for apparent injuries sustained during the fight.
Bucheli was ultimately treated and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail on the charge of Assault on a Police Officer, a serious misdemeanor. Bucheli was booked and held on $1,000 bond.
Police allege that due to a lack of cooperation from those involved, they were unable to determine the details of the fight that is believed to have occurred at or near 138 Mae Street.
On Sunday, November 13, 2022, at approximately 5:20 a.m. the Storm Lake Police Department responded to a call of a disturbance occurring at the address 1201 West 6th Street. Upon arrival, police found a male subject identified as Joshua Sheffield, 22, of Fort Dodge, yelling and punching the side of the home. Officers further allege that Sheffield displayed signs of alcohol intoxication. Sheffield was taken into custody and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail for a search of him. Police allege that during the arrest process, Sheffield threatened to kill a police officer.
Sheffield was ultimately charged with: public drunkenness, a simple misdemeanor, and harassment in the first degree, an aggravated misdemeanor. Sheffield was booked and held on $2,300 bail.
On Friday, November 11, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m. m., the Storm Lake Police Department was called to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake for a late report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, police were informed that two students observed a male subject in a vehicle on Monday, November 7, and again on Friday, November 11, and that the male was allegedly masturbating in the vehicle in public view. Witnesses provided police with a description of the man and the vehicle's license plate.
Following further investigation, on Saturday, November 12, police contacted the owner of the suspect vehicle at 221 Seneca Street in Storm Lake, who was identified as Romel Ona Gomez, 47, of Storm Lake. Gomez was taken into custody and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was charged with the following: Two counts of indecent exposure, one felony misdemeanor
Gomez was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $4,000 bond.
All the defendants in this report are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
