August 1, 12:44 p.m.: The Denison Police Department investigated a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30. Vicenta Lira de Cardenas, 53, of Denison, was driving a white 2012 GMC Acadia that was stopped in the southbound westbound lane of Highway 30, attempting to turn. One of the three, Billy Garcia, said the driver of the white pickup truck collided with his black 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck as he attempted to turn around in the parking lot, resulting in minor damage to both vehicles. A sheriff’s deputy and the police chief assisted in searching for the pickup truck driver. The driver was found and was transported to the Denison Police Department. The driver, Adrian Magaña, 33, of Denison, was read his Miranda Rights in the police department's interrogation room. Magaña said it was not him, but his cousin who was driving the truck. The officer reported there was no evidence of tree bark or material inside the damage to the car, but noticed scraped blue paint around the damaged area that matched the Dodge pickup truck. After another officer arrived, Perez and Perez admitted to crashing the pickup truck. He was cited for leaving the scene of the accident, and property damage. Both vehicles sustained $2,500 in damage.
