El paseo de los patitos flotantes de plástico de WESCO Industries por el río Boyer con fines benéficos es un evento innovador que reúne a la comunidad por una buena causa. Los participantes compran patitos numerados, para ser liberados en el río para que floten corriente abajo. Este año, la mitad de las ganancias se destinaron al centro natural/Friends of Yellow Smoke Park del condado de Crawford, lo que ayudó a apoyar la educación de los niños de la escuela y el público en general en la enseñanza de cómo respetar y cuidar el medio ambiente en el que viven.
La otra mitad de las ganancias se dividió entre los primeros tres patos que terminaron la balsa.

Jesus dijo que usará parte del cheque para compensar los costos asociados con la remoción de árboles de la última tormenta. Su hijo cree que debería hacer algo más “divertido,” como viajar a México.
Por su parte, Gaskill dijo que recientemente llevó a su esposa e hijos a Wisconsin Dells y mencionó que el dinero lo ayudará a sentirse un poco mejor con respecto a la cantidad de dinero que gastó allí.
Reese Schechinger no estuvo presente durante la entrega de cheques porque estaba de vacaciones con su familia. El segundo puesto de Reese le aseguró $878.63 dijo que se sentía muy emocionada al saber que podía realizar algunas compras escolares con el dinero.
Este año WESCO recaudó $11,713 y espera alcanzar la meta de $15,000 en el año venidero 2025.

WESCO's floating ducks provide funds to the nature center

WESCO Industries' Plastic Duck Raft Ride on the Boyer River for Charity is an innovative event that brings the community together for a good cause. Participants purchase numbered ducklings, to be released into the river to float downstream. This year, half of the proceeds went to the Crawford County Nature Center/Friends of Yellow Smoke Park, helping to support the education of school children and the general public in teaching them how to respect and care for the environment in which they live.
The other half of the proceeds were split between the first three ducks to finish the raft.
Each year, this unique and fun event raises funds for a charity, which the public votes on, while fostering a sense of community spirit and engagement. Beyond the immediate fun and excitement, the duck raft ride serves as a powerful reminder of the impact a collective effort can have in addressing community needs. The combination of entertainment and altruism exemplifies how creative fundraising can make a significant difference, bringing joy to participants and contributing to the greater good. “This is so much more than I thought it would be,” she said.
Sonnichsen took the time to show several WESCO Industries employees around the nature center and all it has to offer. The beehive inside the center was a favorite of the staff as they tried to locate the queen bee.
Two other winners were present at the recent check presentation. First place winner Jesus Pena of La Estrella received a check for $4,393.13, while third place winner Corey Gaskill of ACS received a check for $585.75. Jesus said he will use part of the check to offset costs associated with tree removal from the last storm. His son thinks he should do something more “fun,” like travel to Mexico.
For his part, Gaskill said he recently took his wife and children to Wisconsin Dells and said the money will help him feel a little better about the amount of money he spent there.
Reese Schechinger was not present during the check presentation because she was on vacation with her family. Reese's second-place finisher secured her $878.63 and she said she was very excited to know she could make some school purchases with the money.
This year WESCO raised $11,713 and hopes to reach the goal of $15,000 in the upcoming year 2025.
