Marcha por una reforma migratoria

José Alvarado director ejecutivo de Latinx Immigrants of Iowa (Latinos inmigrantes de Iowa Latinx Immigrants of Iowa por su traducción al inglés), invita a toda la comunidad de inmigrantes de Iowa a participar en la primera marcha histórica que se realizará el 1ro. de Mayo, saliendo a las 11:00AM de La Placita (1514 East Grand Ave. Hasta llegar al Capitolio de Iowa.
El objetivo de la marcha es presionar a la administración Biden que cumpla con la promesa que hizo durante su campaña, de legalizar a los 1l millones de inmigrantes indocumentados que viven en los Estados Unidos.
“Es importante que los inmigrantes de Iowa y los que apoyan a los inmigrantes, nos unamos para recordarle al presidente Biden de la promesa de una reforma migratoria en los primeros 100 días de su presidencia. Ya llevamos un poco más de 100 días y hasta el momento él ni el Congreso se ha pronunciado acerca de cumplir con la acción humanitaria; porque otorgar una reforma migratoria no es hablar de política, sino de una verdadera acción humanitaria.” Dijo el joven líder.
De igual manera expresó, “Esta marcha va hacer historia, porque esta es la primera vez que la policía nos otorga permiso de pronunciarnos en la calle y no en las banquetas como lo hemos estado haciendo en los años anteriores.”
La marcha lleva por nombre Immigration Reform Now (Reforma migratoria ahora, por su traducción al español), es una acción en apoyo de la legislación presentada por el presidente Joe Biden, los senadores y congresistas que busca un camino hacia la legalización de más de 11 millones de personas, incluidas las personas con DACA, TPS y trabajadores esenciales.
Cien días después, Biden ha eliminado muchas de las políticas y prácticas dañinas de Trump, volviendo a mucho de lo que teníamos bajo Obama. Los inmigrantes y los activistas por los derechos de los inmigrantes celebran algunos de estos cambios, pero saben que eso no es suficiente.
“Queremos reconocer los aspectos positivos que han sucedido en estos 100 días, del presidente Biden, pero también reconocer que no ha cumplido sus promesas, al mismo tiempo queremos señalar las acciones dañinas que se han producido, un ejemplo de ello es, los centros de detención que todavía están separando familias e incluso hemos visto la reapertura de instalaciones previamente cerradas. Hemos visto aumentos innecesarios en los fondos de CBP e ICE, así como deportaciones continuas.
José dijo a este medio que su organización tiene seis demandas para la Administración y el Congreso:
- Aprobar la Ley de ciudadanía estadounidense (H.R.1177 / S. 348)
Esta propuesta crearía un camino de 8 años hacia la ciudadanía para 11
millones de personas indocumentadas; ampliar las vías legales de inmigración y reducir los retrasos en las visas.
- Este proyecto de ley incluye fondos para la construcción de un "muro inteligente" en la frontera sur. #NoWallsNoCages
- Aprobar la Ley de Promesa y Sueño Americano (H.R.6) Este proyecto de ley haría elegibles para la residencia permanente a los DREAMers, titulares de TPS y titulares de DED. “Los DREAMers fueron traídos a los Estados Unidos cuando eran niños; muchos llaman hogar a este país y están trabajando para lograr sus metas y sueños en este país.”
- Aprobar la Ley de ciudadanía para trabajadores esenciales (H.R.1909 / S.747) que implica un estatus legal para trabajadores esenciales indocumentados. Camino a la ciudadanía para aproximadamente 5 millones de trabajadores indocumentados y sus familias.
- Aprobar la Ley SECURE (S. 306) Esto crearía un camino hacia la ciudadanía para los titulares de TPS.

José told this medium that his organization has six demands for the Administration and Congress:
- Pass the United States Citizenship Act (H.R. 1177 / S. 348)

millions of undocumented people; expand legal immigration avenues and reduce visa delays.
- This bill includes funds for the construction of a "smart wall" on the southern border. #NoWallsNoCages
