El grupo especial diocesano de COVID se reunió con el Obispo recientemente para la revisión de los datos actuales en lo que respecta a la propagación y el impacto de COVID-19 y la variante Delta.
Después de la reunión, el Obispo mantuvo y enmendó algunos protocolos y emitió las siguientes recomendaciones que serán aplicadas de inmediato en todas las parroquias de la diócesis:
- No habrá el signo de la paz durante las misas
- La comunión seguirá bajo la especie de pan
- Uso de desinfectante de manos durante la distribución de la comunión después de que la Eucaristía se recibe en la lengua rescinde y ya no es obligatorio.
- Los sacerdotes, diáconos y laicos deben de aplicarse desinfectante de manos antes de la distribución general de la Eucaristía y después de la finalización de la distribución general a la congregación.
- Se aconseja a los sacerdotes / parroquias que hablen regularmente del tema e impriman materiales (boletines, etc.) sobre la recepción adecuada de la Eucaristía en la mano y por la boca para mostrar la reverencia apropiada al Cuerpo de Cristo y limitar el contacto durante la distribución de la Comunión.
- Los sacerdotes deben continuar instando fuertemente a sus fieles a recibir el Cuerpo de Cristo en su mano (entendiendo que es un derecho a recibirlo en la boca).
- Es altamente recomendado a TODAS las personas de 2 años en adelante, usar un cubrebocas durante todas las liturgias y eventos parroquiales.
- Es altamente recomendado a TODOS los clérigos y laicos usar un cubrebocas mientras distribuyen la Comunión.
Recomendaciones durante los eventos parroquiales:
- Las comidas parroquiales / eventos / reuniones / juntas, etc. NO serán canceladas.
- La tecnología, como Zoom y otras plataformas virtuales, debe considerarse, pero no es obligatorio para las reuniones parroquiales si las tasas de positividad para COVID son altas o están aumentando en su área.
Consideraciones Generales:
- Considerar el distanciamiento, siempre que sea posible.
- Se recomienda el uso de cubrebocas para los eventos parroquiales.
- Las preguntas o inquietudes sobre la distribución o preparación de alimentos deben dirigirse a la Oficina de Salud Pública de su Condado para los protocolos locales. Se recomienda que las comidas sean para llevarlas a casa
- Para reuniones que servirán comida, se recomienda sea al aire libre cuando sea posible.
- Aumentar el espacio entre las mesas y las sillas cuando sea posible.
- Una buena ventilación / aire fresco siempre ayuda.
El Obispo y sus asesores continuarán monitoreando los datos y la red de información en todo el estado y la región con expertos en salud pública y otros grupos de recursos para nuestra Diócesis. Los informes de datos continuarán siendo compartidos con nuestros sacerdotes regularmente.

Diocese of Sioux City
The diocesan COVID task force met with the Bishop recently for the review of current data in regards to the spread and impact of COVID-19 and the Delta variant.
After the meeting, the Bishop maintained and amended some protocols and issued the following recommendations that will be applied immediately in all the parishes of the diocese:
- There will be no peace sign during masses
- Communion will continue under the kind of bread
- Use of hand sanitizer during the distribution of communion after the Eucharist is received in the language rescinded and is no longer mandatory.
- Priests, deacons, and laity should apply hand sanitizer before the general distribution of the Eucharist and after the completion of the general distribution to the congregation.
- Priests/parishes are advised to regularly discuss the topic and print materials (newsletters, etc.) on the proper reception of the Eucharist by hand and by mouth to show proper reverence for the Body of Christ and limit contact during the distribution of Communion.
- Priests must continue to strongly urge their faithful to receive the Body of Christ in their hand (understanding that it is a right to receive it in the mouth).
- It is highly recommended for ALL people 2 years and older to wear a mask during all liturgies and parish events.
- It is highly recommended to ALL clergy and laity to wear a mask while distributing Communion.
Recommendations during parish events:
- Parish meals / events / meetings / meetings, etc. They will NOT be canceled.
- Technology, such as Zoom and other virtual platforms, should be considered, but not required for parish gatherings if COVID positivity rates are high or increasing in your area.
General considerations:
- Consider distancing, whenever possible.
- The use of face masks is recommended for parish events.
- Questions or concerns about food distribution or preparation should be directed to your County Public Health Office for local protocols. Meals are recommended to be taken home
- For gatherings that will serve food, it is recommended to be outdoors when possible.
- Increase the space between tables and chairs when possible.
- Good ventilation / fresh air always helps.
The Bishop and his advisers will continue to monitor the data and information network throughout the state and region with public health experts and other resource groups for our Diocese. Data reports will continue to be shared with our priests on a regular basis.
