El pasado lunes del presente mes, las bandas de jazz de la escuela High School de Denison viajaron a Glenwood para competir en el festival de jazz del distrito SW Iowa que determina la clase de música jazz que las bandas califican para los Campeonatos de Jazz de Iowa (IJC, por sus siglas en inglés).

Dos bandas de jazz de la High School de Denison (DHS Jazz One y DHS Jazz Two) compitieron en la clase 4A, obteniendo el reconocimiento en la "Mejor sección de saxofón" (DHS Jazz One), El cuarto lugar lo obtuvo DHS Jazz Two y segundo lugar DHS Jazz One. El segundo lugar de la mejor banda de jazz los convierte en un calificador automático para el Campeonato de Jazz de Iowa 2022.

En total, dos bandas de jazz de cada clase recibieron invitaciones automáticas para la CCI 2022:

Class 1A: Tri-Center (1st), Griswold (2nd)

Class 2A: Treynor (1st), IKM-Manning (2nd)

Class 3A: Harlan (1st), Glenwood (2nd)

Class 4A: Lewis Central (1st), Denison (2nd)

Los Campeonatos de Jazz de Iowa 2022 se llevarán a cabo el martes, 5 de abril del presente año en Ames.

This past Monday of this month, the Denison High School Jazz Bands traveled to Glenwood to compete in the SW Iowa District Jazz Festival that determines the kind of jazz music that bands qualify for the Iowa Jazz Championships. (IJC).

Two Denison High School jazz bands (DHS Jazz One and DHS Jazz Two) competed in class 4A, earning recognition in "Best Saxophone Section" (DHS Jazz One), Fourth place went to DHS Jazz Two and second place DHS Jazz One. Second place for best jazz band makes them an automatic qualifier for the 2022 Iowa Jazz Championship.
