Un significativo incendio destruyó un edificio cerca de Al's Corner Oil, al este de Breda, afortunadamente se salvó el almacenamiento de los alimentos básicos del condado de Carroll.
El jefe de bomberos de Carroll, Greg Schreck, dijo que su Departamento recibió una llamada telefónica pidiendo ayuda alrededor de las 10 p.m. y su equipo regresó a su base de bomberos después de extinguir el fuego alrededor de las 2 a.m.

A fire Tuesday night engulfed two propane trucks at the corner of Al’s Corner Oil, east of Breda, setting off huge flames and an explosion that propelled a fuel tank about 100 yards into a nearby field.
"Apart from the movies, I had never seen anything like this," Dan Wiskus told the Breda fire marshal, "It was terrifying and impressive."
Wiskus and his firefighters responded to the blaze around 9:50 p.m. at the intersection of highway 71 and 120 th. Street. Upon arrival they found several small buildings on fire that stretched 50 to 60 feet in the air.
Inside the buildings were tank trucks containing thousands of gallons of propane gas along with large drums of oil.
Several fire departments in the area joined the Breda team, as they initially sought to protect a house near the fire and the main building on Al’s corner; so that these did not catch fire. Wiskus said they kept a safe distance from the two propane trucks for fear of an explosion, which occurred shortly after their arrival.
Laci Reitz said she was driving from Carroll to her home in Wall Lake, when she walked over to get a photo of the fire that she could see from a kilometer away from the road, and the moment she pressed the button to capture the photo, one of the tanks exploded. "It shook my whole vehicle," Reitz said. "I turned around and got out of there."
The explosion launched a fuel tank into the air that landed about 100 meters away. Wiskus said.
"Nobody was hurt
It took about two hours to extinguish the fire as firefighters fought to keep their equipment from freezing in the cold. They left the scene of the fire around 3:30 a.m.
The main Al’s Corner Oil building along the U.S. Highway 71 was not damaged by the fire.
Al’s Corner Oil is home to more than two dozen Sparky stop shops in the region.
