Anthony Rodríguez y Oscar García son los dos nuevos oficiales del Departamento de Policía de Denison que prestaron juramento en la reunión del Concejo Municipal de Denison el martes 17 de octubre.
Los oficiales que por el momento están desempeñando sus cargos en probatoria no certificada ya que aún no han asistido a la Academia de Policía de Iowa, según expresó a este medio Anthony Trejos, jefe del Departamento de policía de Denison. “Por el momento ellos [Anthony y Oscar] se encuentran en programa del proceso de entrenamiento, y será hasta abril 2024 que asistirán a la academia.”

Durante la ceremonia de contratación, y antes de que los oficiales hicieran el juramento de servir a la comunidad de Denison, el jefe de la policía les leyó la siguiente declaración: Todos los días, miles de agentes del orden se ponen la insignia para asumir la responsabilidad de mantener seguras a nuestras comunidades, ayudar a los necesitados y afrontar incidentes de los que huyen una la mayoría de las personas.
La gente siempre pregunta por qué decidí dedicarme a la aplicación del reforzamiento de la ley considerando el actual clima político y el desagrado que algunas personas sienten en torno a nuestra profesión. Podría darte muchas respuestas, pero todo se reduce a que ser policía es una profesión honorable, realmente quiero ayudar a la gente, y poner la insignia en mi uniforme diariamente muestra mi compromiso con nuestra ciudad y nuestra agencia.
Usted ha tomado la decisión de convertirse en oficial de policía del Departamento de la Policía de Denison, trabajaremos juntos para brindarle la mejor capacitación, educación y experiencia para construir una carrera duradera en esta noble profesión.
Nuevamente, felicidades y bienvenidos a la Hermandad y a la Delgada Línea Azul.
Con los dos nuevos oficiales, el Departamento de Policía de Denison tiene seis policías latinos. Tony expresó que a su llegada al Departamento estaba corto de personal. “Con la contratación de los dos nuevos oficiales, me quedan dos más vacantes que llenar.”

Anthony Rodriguez and Oscar Garcia are the two new Denison Police Department officers who were sworn in at the Denison City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 17.
The officers who are currently serving in their positions are on non-certified probation since they have not yet attended the Iowa Police Academy, as Anthony Trejos, chief of the Denison Police Department, told this medium. “At the moment they [Anthony and Oscar] are in the training process program, and it will not be until April 2024 that they will attend the academy.”
During the hiring ceremony, and before the officers took the oath to serve the Denison community, the police chief read them the following statement: Every day, thousands of law enforcement officers don the badge to take office. responsibility to keep our communities safe, help those in need and deal with incidents that most people flee from.
People always ask why I decided to go into law enforcement considering the current political climate and the distaste some people feel toward our profession. I could give you many answers, but what it comes down to is that being a police officer is an honorable profession, I truly want to help people, and putting the badge on my uniform daily shows my commitment to our city and our agency.
You have made the decision to become a police officer with the Denison Police Department, we will work together to provide you with the best training, education and experience to build a lasting career in this noble profession.

With the two new officers, the Denison Police Department has six Latino police officers. Tony expressed that upon his arrival at the Department he was short-staffed. “With the hiring of the two new officers, I have two more vacancies left to fill.”
