El consulado de México en Omaha, informó a este medio que está ofreciendo una beca de $80 mil dólares para los jóvenes mexicanos con el programa DREAMERS y para los estudiantes que cumplan con el criterio de elegibilidad para dicha beca.
Socorro Carrera, coordinadora de la Ventanilla de Orientación Educativa del Consulado, dijo a este medio que “Nuestro consulado se complace en anunciar esta gran oportunidad para nuestra juventud que tiene el programa DACA, que ha sido desarrollada gracias a la intervención del Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior y del Consulado de México en Omaha, y la colaboración de The Dream.US.”
El dinero da la beca cubrirá la matrícula, tarifas, alojamiento y alimentos en el campus en una de las universidades asociadas con TheDream.US, hasta con un máximo de $80,000 para una licenciatura.
La beca ha sido denominada “The Opportunity Scholarship" y es ofrecida por la organización TheDream.US que entregara 50 becas en diferentes estados del país, lo que incluye a los recipientes de DACA que viven en Iowa.
La fecha límite para las solicitudes es el 28 de enero.
Cabe mencionar que la organización TheDream.US ha adoptado nuevos criterios de elegibilidad de inmigración para los recipientes del programa DACA. Ahora son elegibles para presentar una solicitud si él o la joven llegó al país antes del 1 de noviembre de 2015.
