New hope un centro de nuevas esperanzas

No hay nada más satisfactorio que servirle a nuestro prójimo, especialmente a las personas que nacieron con alguna discapacidad física o los que en el camino de la vida desarrollaron una enfermedad que los dejó incapacitados de su propia independencia física o mental.
New Hope (Nueva esperanza por su traducción al español, es una institución en Carroll que atiende a adultos cuya vida independiente, empleo, desarrollo personal, social o funcional se ve desafiado por discapacidad intelectual, del desarrollo o una lesión cerebral.
Sin embargo, en este mundo existen hombres y mujeres de buenos corazones que son capaces de mezclar el trabajo con la compasión y la generosidad, como es el caso de Rachel Wieland, que por muchos años trabajó en el área de administración de gasolineras, pero su trabajo no llenaba el vacío que internamente sentía. “Era como en mis adentros necesitaba dar algo más profundo que una sonrisa de servicio al cliente,” compartió Rachael refiriéndose a su trabajo como manager de gasolinera.
Rachael y sus residentes de New Hope disfrutaron de una cálida tarde en el parque Swan Lake de Carroll, durante la una actividad recreativa que el centro realizó para los residentes y los empleados.
Fue entonces, que por medio de una amiga, Rachael escuchó hablar de New Hope y de la calidad de trabajo que el personal le ofrecía a los residentes de la institución. “Busqué más información de lo que mi amiga me dijo, me di cuenta que es un lugar de trabajo donde la persona no solo es remunerada por medio de un excelente pago, pero lo más importante fue que encontré el remuneramiento interno que me hacía falta en mi trabajo anterior; que es servir de una forma más directa a mi prójimo, y además de las satisfacciones personales que mi trabajo me ofrece, tengo la oportunidad de trabajar en un ambiente como de familia.
Las satisfacciones personales de Rachael en su trabajo la llevaron a involucrar a sus hijos y sobrina. “Ellos son estudiantes de la High School, les conté de lo bonito que se siente ser las manos de los que no pueden usar las suyas, además que les hablé del excelente pago económico que se recibe por ayudar. Ellos vinieron como voluntarios para explorar si lo que yo les decía era real, y terminaron trabajando aquí después que salen de la escuela.”
La variedad de programas que ofrece New Hope permite a los clientes vivir con propósito y realización personal, y adquirir y mantener las habilidades necesarias para el crecimiento personal. Cada persona atendida tiene un programa individual basado en sus necesidades.

There is nothing more satisfying than serving our neighbor, especially people who were born with a physical disability or those who developed a disease along the way of life that left them incapable of their own physical or mental independence.
New Hope is an institution in Carroll that serves adults whose independent living, employment, personal, social, or functional development is challenged by intellectual or developmental disabilities, or brain injury.
However, in this world there are men and women with good hearts who are capable of mixing work with compassion and generosity, as is the case of Rachel Wieland, who for many years worked in the area of gas station management, but her work did not fill the emptiness I felt internally. “It was like deep inside she needed to give something deeper than a customer service smile,” Rachael shared, referring to her job as a gas station manager.
Rachael and her New Hope residents enjoyed a warm afternoon at Carroll's Swan Lake Park during a recreational activity the center hosted for residents and employees.
It was then, through a friend, that Rachael heard about New Hope and the quality of work that the staff offered to the residents of the institution. "I looked for more information than my friend told me, I realized that it is a workplace where the person is not only remunerated through an excellent payment, but the most important thing was that I found the internal remuneration that I needed in my previous job; which is to serve my neighbor in a more direct way, and in addition to the personal satisfaction that my work offers me, I have the opportunity to work in a family-like environment.
Rachael's personal satisfactions in her work led her to involve his children and niece. “They are High School students, I told them about how nice it feels to be in the hands of those who cannot use theirs, and I also told them about the excellent economic payment that is received for helping. They came as volunteers to explore if what I was telling them was real, and they ended up working here after they got out of school.”
The variety of programs that New Hope offers enables clients to live with purpose and personal fulfillment, and to acquire and maintain the skills necessary for personal growth. Each person served has an individual program based on their needs.
