El martes, 15 de diciembre llegó el momento en que la familia de Michelle, residente de Denison, esperaba con tantas ansias, la llegada de su mamá, Ausencia Hernández de 78 años de edad (cumplidos este 18 de diciembre), vino desde Mezcala, Guerrero, México para, por fin, reunirse con sus hijos y nietos a los que no abrazaba y besaba desde hace 25 años.
El sueño de la familia se hiso realidad gracias a la organización Raíces del Sur, quienes ayudaron a la familia a tramitar una Visa humanitaria para que doña Ausencia y sus hijos se pudieran ver y abrazar sin tener que depender más del desarrollo de la tecnología – que, aunque es maravillosa para poder comunicarnos con nuestros seres queridos – nunca va a poder suplementar los sentimientos y las emociones sentidas al abrazar una madre o un hijo o hija.
Ausencia, madre de cinco hijos, tres de los cuales viven en Denison. Michelle, no miraba a su mamá desde hace 25 años, Roy, llevaba 19 años sin ver a su madre, y Juan que también tuvo que esperar 12 años para poder abrazar a su amada madre.
“Vamos a convivir con ella, disfrutar de su estancia, apapacharla, quererla, abrazarla, decirle las palabras que por tanto años no le decíamos y celebrar su cumpleaños después de 25 años de no poder pasar los días festivos con ella”
Los hijos de doña Ausencia dijeron a este medio que el sueño de ver a su madre, se les hiso realidad gracias a la ayudada del señor Luis Aguilar, presidente de la organización Raíces del Sur con sede en Los Angeles, California; y la señora Patty Zermeño representante de Raíces del Sur quien ayudó a tramitar la visa para que Ausencia se reuniera con sus hijos.
La travesía de la señora Ausencia de México a Omaha fue acompañada por Dafne Aguilar, voluntaria de Raíces del Sur en México, junto a el señor Raúl Rentería representante de la organización en Omaha, entregaron a Ausencia en manos de sus hijos y nietos.
Gracias a Raíces del Sur, Ausencia Hernández pudo conocer a cuatro de sus diez nietos, y a sus cinco bisnietos. Al igual que a muchos familiares que tenía años sin poder ver, a consecuencias de las injustas leyes de inmigración.
Con mucha emoción en su quebrantada voz, Ausencia dijo “Fue un sueño … le doy gracias a Dios y a Raíces del Sur por toda su ayuda.”
Michelle le platico a LA PRENSA Iowa que se enteró de Raíces del Sur por medio de unas noticias que dieron en Des Moines. Su familia investigó si la organización era legítima, así que agarraron el teléfono y llamaron. “Nos contactamos con la organización y ellos nos dijeron que podían ayudarnos a tramitar una visa humanitaria para mi mamá, ellos solo nos pidieron un certificado del doctor, pasaporte de mamá con la credencial de elector y la aplicación de la visa; y ellos se encargaron de lo demás.” dijo Michelle.
Después de que todo estuviera listo y tramitado, recibieron una llamada para que Ausencia hiciera cita con la embajada. Espero semana y media para poder tener la cita y ahí mismo fue cuando le dijeron que calificó. A las dos semanas Ausencia pudo, finalmente, viajar a Estados Unidos. De inicio al fin, el proceso se tardó tres semanas.
La embajada le otorgo a Ausencia la visa humanitaria por 30 días, del 15 de diciembre 2020 al 15 de enero 2021.
La Visa Humanitaria es para personas mayores de 60 años quienes nunca han sido deportadas y que no tienen delitos. Estas personas deben tener un mínimo de diez años sin pisar tierra estadounidense. Por último, deben ser mexicanos. Los requisitos pueden variar dependiendo del caso.
Michelle quiere decirle a la comunidad, “si alguien quiere ver a su ser querido, comuníquese con Raúl Rentería, él puede dar información, no espere, es verdad. Ahorita, el proceso va a tardar por el covid pero no esperen. El número de Omaha es (402) 415-8487.”
