“Son áreas que podríamos dejar preparadas cuando el centro este terminado, y que, en un futuro, si se decide expandir las facilidades, los costos serian más baratos,” Jared explicó.
Sin embargo, ningún cambio es seguro. HGM y el comité del centro recreacional siguen discutiendo sobre mٔás modificaciones y costos, este último siendo una gran parte importante del proyecto.

R: El comité del centro recreacional condujo un estudio donde se estimó que el centro necesitaría 700 miembros para que el costo anual sea de $380 por familia.
¿Proveerá el centro el equipo deportivo o las personas deberán de traer su propio instrumento para jugar?

On Nov. 3, the community gathered at the Boulders Conference Center where representatives from HGM Associates Inc. and the Wellness Center committee gave a presentation and answered questions about changes to the preliminary designs of the Wellness Center.
At the end of September, the design for the Wellness Center was 60 percent completed; the center consisted of a two-floor building with a soccer field, basketball courts (which could be used for other sports), a new Senior Center, an aerobics area, a nursery, a running track, among other things.
On this occasion, Vice President of HGM Associates Inc. Jared Olson, who was in charge of the presentation, explained that the design of the project was 80 percent finished and that one of the biggest changes was the reduction of many rooms.
"We carefully reviewed the entrances, lobbies and traffic that could be received, and decided to reduce the spaces to make better use of the overall space," he explained.
In addition to the changes in size, it was proposed that the aquatic center be reconfigured and that some of the pool facilities be relocated; The HGM team also identified several areas of the Wellness Center that could be expanded in the future such as parking lots, athletic areas and the soccer field.
"These are areas that we could leave ready when the center is finished, and if the city decides to expand the facilities in the future, the costs would be cheaper," Olson explained.
However, no change is certain yet as the HGM and Wellness Center committee continue to discuss further modifications and costs, this last one in particular being one of the biggest problems.
Before Olson began the presentation, City Manager Bradley Hanson spoke briefly about the limited funds the city has and how this affects the outcome of the recreation center.
"We know that at the last meeting many people offered many opinions and suggestions, unfortunately due to our limited funds, we cannot do everything the community wants," he explained. "You can't always make everyone happy."
“Unfortunately, the biggest limiting factor is the overall budget,” Olson said. “The site is big enough to handle almost anything you would want to do.”

Q&A session
After the presentation, the public was able to ask their questions to the presenters, here we offer a recapitulation of what was discussed; however, the hot topic in this presentation was the services, costs and uses of the Senior Center if it were to be transferred within the Wellness Center grounds.
Do I have to pay to use the Senior Center?
Hanson explained it is planned that, if the Senior Center were to be relocated in the Wellness Center facilities, seniors will have access to this area at no additional cost, but what is not clear is whether they will have to pay to use the rest of the facilities.
"We continue to discuss the details of this issue," he said.
Will meals still be served at the new Senior Center?
Hanson explained that it is planned to continue serving meals at the new center; That is why the committee contacted the cook of the current center to know what kind of equipment would be required to install in the new kitchen.
Why did you add the Senior Center as part of the recreation center?
Hanson explained that the current downtown facilities are in bad sondition and that this change would be a cheaper option for the city compared to fixing the current center; In addition, if the Senior Center were to be part of the new recreation center, the committee could qualify for additional financial aid such as the Community Development Block Grant.
"When you walk through the facilities of the current center you can notice that many equipment is not working properly, or that parts of the building are peeling off," he explained. "Also, the kitchen is very compact and in the new center they could have a storage area."
Many seniors can't walk long distances, how would parking work? Do you plan to reserve an entire lot just for seniors?
The Senior Center will be located on the first floor and the exit would be connected to the street, giving direct access to the parking lot. However, Hanson said they are not sure that the parking lot would be reserved for use by seniors only.
Do you plan to use taxes to fund this project?
Hanson explained that the committee seeks to apply for different grants to be able to fully finance this project, if possible.
"We have no intention of raising taxes," he said. "We prefer to use grants and donations."
How much would it cost to use the facility?
The Wellness Center committee conducted a study where it was estimated that the center would need 700 active members for the annual cost to be $380 per family.
Will sports equipment be provided or will people need to bring their own equipment?
Olson explained that it is a little early to know if all the sports equipment will be provided by the recreational center, but at least a part of the equipment will be provided. More details will be announced as the project progresses.
If all goes well, how soon would the doors open to the public?
"We don't have a fixed schedule for the project, but, the way things are going, it could take two to three years," Olson said.
At this comment, several members of the community were disappointed.
After the meeting, Denison United FC President Jesus Campos told this outlet, "we have high expectations of the project and many already want it to be ready to use it; that's why many young people were disappointed that this project could take several years."
How would the building be accessed?
"I think there are plans to have several card accesses points and also the reception area would serve as an access area," Olson said.
