The Denison City Council approved two agenda items for the Crawford County Wellness Center project last Tuesday.
The approved amount will not exceed $13,500 for Certified Testing Services (CTS) Inc. to examine the land where the Wellness Center will be built.
With approval, CTS plans to carry out between 15 and 18 density testing and ground observation visits, as well as inspection of the material that will be used for the construction of the building.
The city council also approved an amount not to exceed $22,500 for Certified Testing Services Inc. to test construction materials.
Councilman Corey Curnyn said on-site testing will be the most important part of the building's longevity.
CTS anticipates making 18 to 20 site visits to the pipeline trenching and backfill portion of the project, 35 concrete inspection trips for the building and parking areas, 8 to 10 masonry and 4 to 5 trips to review the structural steel portion of the project. It may also be necessary to take test samples of the grout that will be used in construction, the company explained.
