El propietario del histórico restaurante Cronk’s en Denison, Ramon Patiño dijo a este medio que muy pronto el restaurante estará abierto al público en general. “Actualmente estamos dando los últimos toques internos del restaurante para la gran apertura que la tengo planificada para el próximo mes de julio… bueno, sino no nos encontramos con ninguna otra sorpresa.”
Ramon dijo que después de haber comprado el restaurante, sus planes iniciales eran hacer las reparaciones necesarias para abrir el lugar lo más pronto posible, “Pero cada vez que reparamos algo, me llevo la sorpresa con que algo más necesita ser reparado, cambiarlo o reconstruirlo.”
Entre las cosas novedades que Ramon ha hecho en el restaurante, el piso de todo el lugar es una de ellas, así como el sistema eléctrico y de luces, aire acondicionado y sistema de refrigeración, pintura de todo el lugar, y reemplazo del cielo raso. “Ahora nos dimos cuenta que tenemos que reparar algunas partes del techo, porque con la reciente lluvia de la semana pasada se echaron a perder muchas piezas [del cielo raso].”
Con lo que respeta al estacionamiento, Ramon dijo que el gasto ha sido “imaginable” pero que era necesario realizarlo por las malas condiciones en la que se encontraba el anterior. “Estamos renovando no solo la parte de concreto del estacionamiento, que incluye las líneas divisorias de los carros al igual que la iluminación del parqueadero; sino que también estamos construyendo una segunda pared de contención al lado norte del estacionamiento, ya que la anterior estaba a punto de derrumbarse.”

Ramon explicó que cuando compró el restaurante, él estaba claro de los gastos y reparaciones que tenía que realizar, “pero la verdad es que cada vez surgen más y más cosas. Es por eso que no he abierto el lugar, y le pido disculpas al público, y al mismo tiempo les garantizo [al público] que la espera valdrá la pena, porque Cronk’s renacerá como el ave fénix.
A lo que el menú se refiere, Ramon dijo que la especialidad del menú serán las carnes. “Especialmente, el stake y el prime rib. También combinaremos el menú con platillos de la gastronomía mexicana; y los domingos estaremos ofreciendo un exquisito desayuno estilo brunch, con lo mejor de la comida americana y mexicana.”
De igual manera, Ramon invita a todas las personas que estén interesadas a trabajar en el restaurante a que apliquen para las diferentes posiciones que tendrá disponible que van desde manager general, cocineros o cocineras y meseros o meseras. “Gente que tenga ganas de trabajar. Yo siempre le digo a los solicitantes, si te gusta lo que haces vas a tener trabajo hasta que tú quieras, pero si no te gustan las funciones que vas a realizar en mi trabajo, estas perdiendo el tiempo. Porque a mí lo que me interesa es un empleado que disfrute su trabajo para que así ofrezca un excelente servicio al cliente, que es mi primer principio como el hombre de negocios que soy.”
Cabe mencionar, que el restaurante Cronk’s está lleno de su propia historia que data desde el histórico Lincoln Highway (ahora Highway 30), y ha sido el lugar donde muchos políticos de todos los partidos han convergido, no solo para comer, sino que también para enamorar a los votantes con sus campañas electorales.
Cronk's también fue la parada de la actriz de Hollywood y nativa de Denison, Donna Reed, cuando regresaba a su ciudad natal para visitar a su padre.
Cronk's fue fundado por L.J. Cronk en 1929.
Actualmente el estacionamiento se encuentra en reconstrucción total, al igual que la pared de contención y cambios de los tubos del desagüe de la pared de contención, ya que actualmente, aunque no ha llovido mucho la cantidad de agua que proviene del patrio adyacente que desemboca en el estacionamiento, es mucha. The owner of the historic Cronk's restaurant in Denison, Ramon Patiño told this outlet that the restaurant will soon be open to the general public. “Currently, we are putting the final internal touches on the restaurant for the grand opening that I have planned for next July… well, otherwise, we won't find any other surprises.”
Ramon said that after he bought the restaurant, his initial plans were to make the necessary repairs to open the place as soon as possible, “But every time we fix something, I am surprised that something else needs to be fixed, replaced or rebuilt.”

Among the new things that Ramon has done in the restaurant, the flooring of the entire place is one of them, as well as the electrical and lighting system, air conditioning and refrigeration system, painting of the entire place, and replacement of the ceiling. “Now we realize that we have to repair some parts of the roof because with the recent rain last week, many pieces [of the ceiling] were spoiled.”
Regarding the parking lot, Ramon said that the expense has been "imaginable" but that it was necessary to do it due to the poor conditions in which the previous one was. “We are renovating not only the concrete part of the parking lot, which includes the dividing lines of the cars as well as the lighting of the parking lot, but we are also building a second retaining wall on the north side of the parking lot, since the previous one was about to collapse.”
Ramon explained that when he bought the restaurant, he was clear about the expenses and repairs that he had to carry out, “but the truth is that more and more things are coming up. That's why I haven't opened the place, and I apologize to the public, and at the same time, I guarantee [the public] that the wait will be worth it because Cronk's will be reborn like the phoenix.
Regarding the menu, Ramon said that the specialty on the menu will be meat. “Especially the stake and the prime rib. We will also combine the menu with dishes from Mexican cuisine, and on Sundays, we will be offering an exquisite brunch-style breakfast with the best of American and Mexican food.”
In the same way, Ramon invites all people who are interested in working in the restaurant to apply for the different positions that he will have available, ranging from general manager, chefs or cooks, and waiters or waitresses. “People who want to work. I always tell applicants if you like what you do, you'll have a job as long as you want, but if you don't like the functions you're going to perform at my job, you're wasting your time. Because what interests me is an employee who enjoys his work so that he offers excellent customer service, which is my first principle as the businessman that I am."
Worth mentioning, Cronk's restaurant is steeped in its own history dating back to the historic Lincoln Highway (now Highway 30) and has been the place where many politicians from all parties have converged, not only to eat but also to make voters fall in love with their electoral campaigns.
Cronk's was also a stop for Hollywood actress and Denison native Donna Reed when she returned to her hometown to visit her father.
Cronk's was founded by L.J. Cronk in 1929.
