El domingo por la noche del 15 de septiembre, aproximadamente a las 11:30 p. m., el Departamento de Policía de Storm Lake se presentó al 600 block de Otsego Street, por una llamada relacionada a una denuncia de asalto.
Al llegar al lugar, la policía habló con una víctima que informó que un sujeto masculino, identificado como Diego Figueroa-González, de 36 años, de Storm Lake, amenazó a la víctima afuera de una residencia apuntándole con una pistola en la cabeza y golpeándola con la misma varias veces. La policía alega que la víctima no resultó herida en el incidente y Figueroa-González huyó del lugar a pie antes de la llegada de los oficiales.
Poco después, la policía localizó en Storm Lake a Figueroa-González en 607 Elmwood Drive, donde fue detenido sin incidentes. Posteriormente, la policía obtuvo una orden de registro de la residencia donde encontraron y recuperaron drogas parafernalia, una cantidad sospechosa de metanfetamina y una réplica de una pistola de aire comprimido. Como resultado del incidente, Figueroa-González fue acusado de lo siguiente:

Acoso de tercer grado, un delito menor simple

El 6 de septiembre de 2024, aproximadamente a las 10:08 p. m., el Departamento de Policía de Storm Lake fue llamado a un disturbio doméstico que involucraba un arma de fuego en una residencia del Block 700 de Chole Lane en Storm Lake. Al llegar, la policía cerco un perímetro alrededor de la residencia y, después de aproximadamente 20 minutos, los ocupantes salieron de la residencia y fueron detenidos sin incidentes. Luego de la investigación en la escena, la policía alega que ocurrió un disturbio doméstico entre un hombre y una mujer en la residencia, en el que la mujer se armó con una pistola y amenazó con autolesionarse. No se reportaron heridos en relación con el incidente. La policía detuvo a la mujer y la trasladó al Centro Médico Regional Buena Vista en Storm Lake, Iowa.

On Sunday evening, September 15, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department responded to the 600 block of Otsego Street for a call regarding a reported assault.
Upon arrival, police spoke with a victim who reported that a male subject, identified as Diego Figueroa-Gonzalez, 36, of Storm Lake, threatened the victim outside of a residence by pointing a gun at her head and striking her with the gun several times. Police allege that the victim was not injured in the incident and Figueroa-Gonzalez fled the scene on foot prior to officers’ arrival.
Shortly thereafter, Storm Lake police located Figueroa-Gonzalez at 607 Elmwood Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident. Police subsequently obtained a search warrant for the residence where they found and recovered drug paraphernalia, a suspected amount of methamphetamine, and a replica BB gun. As a result of the incident, Figueroa-Gonzalez was charged with the following:
Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor
Third-degree harassment, a simple misdemeanor
Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Figueroa-Gonzalez was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail where he was booked and held on $2,600 bail.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
On September 6, 2024, at approximately 10:08 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was called to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm at a residence in the 700 Block of Chole Lane in Storm Lake. Upon arrival, police cordoned off a perimeter around the residence and after approximately 20 minutes, the occupants exited the residence and were taken into custody without incident. Following investigation at the scene, police allege that a domestic disturbance occurred between a man and a woman at the residence, in which the woman armed herself with a handgun and threatened self-harm. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Police took the woman into custody and transported her to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Criminal charges in connection with the incident are pending.
The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted by the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office.
All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was called to the 400 Block of West 9th Street in Storm Lake regarding a subject trespassing on a vacant property. Upon arrival, police were advised that the subject had fled the area on a bicycle. The subject was later located in the 100 Block of West Milwaukee Avenue and was identified as Master Sarapio, age 39 of Storm Lake. Sarapio was taken into custody without incident for criminal trespass. Police allege that the search incident to arrest Sarapio revealed involvement of drug paraphernalia. Police then transported Sarapio to the Buena Vista County Jail for booking. Police allege that after arriving at the jail and during the booking process, police found a quantity of methamphetamine concealed on Sarapio’s person.
As a result of the incident, Sarapio was charged with the following:
Trespassing, first offense, a simple misdemeanor
Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor
Possession of contraband in a correctional facility, a class D felony
Sarapio was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $5,000 bail.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
